Toyota Recall 2011: Faulty Crankshaft Pulley Triggers Toyota Recall

Toyota Recall 2011 announced for 550,000 cars due to potential steering problem.

According to various online reports, Toyota Motor Company once again announced another round of recall in models including the Avalon, Camry, Highlander, and Lexus ES330 which were manufactured from 2004-2006. A faulty crankshaft pulley, which could lead to loss of power steering, triggered the 2011 Toyota recall.

In a statement released by Toyota, the problem involves the crankshaft pulley of the V6 engines. The outer ring of the pulley may become misaligned with the inner ring. Drivers may notice increased noise or the discharge warning light going on.

If the condition isn’t fixed, the belt for the power steering pump may come off and the car would lose its power steering.

Among the 550,000 vehicles covered by the recall, around 420,000 are in the United States. On the other hand, about 27,000 vehicles are recalled in Canada and 38,000 recalled in Japan.

Just like the previous recall, Toyota said it would fix the problem at no charge, if necessary, replacing the crankshaft pulley on the six-cylinder engines of the models.
