Mario Maurer is coming back to the Philippines after spending Christmas in Singapore and New Year in Japan.
This is because the Thai heartthrob has another project in the country. After he hit the runway last year for the local apparel brand Penshoppe, Mario Maurer is now set to film a movie with Star Cinema with the working title “Suddenly It’s Magic” and he is being paired with Maria la del Barrio star Erich Gonzales.
His Filipino fans are hoping that his team up with Erich transcends to real life romance but Mario said he has a girlfriend in Thailand and they’re in a relationship for 8 years now. The lucky girl is Sumontip Leuangthai who is also an actress.
Mario Maurer’s claim to fame was through his first movie “The Love of Siam” which won for him a Best Actor award in Cinemanila Film Festival. His other movie, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, became a massive hit on Philippine television when it was shown on ABS-CBN.

Mario Maurer, the Thai heartthrob who took Asia by storm by his movies “The Love of Siam” and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” has inked a one-movie deal with Star Cinema.
Mario Maurer is being paired with Maria la del Barrio star Erich Gonzales in a romantic movie with a working title “Suddenly It’s Magic.”
Maurer signed a one-movie contract with Star Cinema on Wednesday. He also revealed that the film is going to be shot in Thailand and the Philippines.
He is looking forward to meet Erich Gonzales, his upcoming leading lady in the movie, very soon.
“Suddenly It’s Magic” is slated to be released in 2012.
