Liz Claiborne Inc. hasn’t had an annual profit since 2006 that’s why it announced on Wednesday that it’s selling its Liz Claiborne brand and several others to concentrate on Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand and kate spade brands that appeal to well-heeled shoppers.

Liz Claiborne is one of a number of companies that adjusted its business to adapt to bifurcating U.S. consumer market.

Liz Claiborne’s annual revenue has dropped by half from 2006 through last year. They are hoping that this bold move will help it turn around its business.
