Crocodile Lolong, the giant male crocodile which was caught in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur last September is now officially the world’s largest crocodile captured alive according to National Geographic.

Lolong

Lolong bagged the title after Australian croc expert Adam Britton measured the saltwater beast at more than 6.2 meters (20 feet and 3 inches).

“We are happy to announce that we have the biggest crocodile in the whole world,” Bunawan town council member Apollo Canoy said via an interview with AFP.

However, they are still waiting for the recognition from the Guiness for Lolong’s inclusion in the Book of World Records.

“So far we have not had any contacts with Guinness, and we do not know whether they plan to visit us soon,” Canoy added.

Canoy said Lolong eats 17 kilograms (37.5 pounds) of pork every 5 days and has become the main tourist attraction in the remote town of 27,000 people, drawing an average of 500 visitors a day.

In this line, the National Geographic has donated P200,000.00 for Lolong’s food and well-being.
