Breaking Dawn Part 1 Delighted Twilight Fans but Annoyed the Critics

Breaking Dawn Part 1, the second to the last of the “Twilight Saga” film franchise, satisfied the Twilighters around the world for the soap opera feel with a climactic ending that leaves the audience wanting for more.

The producers of the novel-turned-box-office-hit admitted that they are bent to give the Twilight fans what they want to see in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1.” Something that will hook them from start to finish.

Film critics, on the other hand, were still not convinced.

Kate Muir of the UK Times said “This latest Twilight is a freakish hybrid: part medical horror, part cheesy Victoria’s Secret catalogue shoot.”

Dana Stevens from Slate has very unkind words for Breaking Dawn Part 1. “By any normal standard, this is a terrible movie, with stilted dialogue and leaden pacing — every 15 minutes or so, the action stops for a musical montage involving slow-motion handsomeness. But the Twilight saga stopped being normal a long time ago,” she said.

Kevin Carr from 7PM Pictures said “There’s plenty of stupidity… from talking wolves and geisha-like vampire make-up to the most uncomfortable newborn baby moment this side of A Serbian Film.”

Despite the majority thumbs down for the film, what’s important to the producers is that they satisfy the fans which are young adults. And for these teens who took a very long line for the midnight premiere of the movie have no complaint whatsoever leaving the movie houses talking about how they cannot wait for the Part 2.
