“Alice Bungisngis” has been airing since February 6 and now, fans of the said teleserye await the kilig scenes to be delivered by the love team of Jake Vargas and Bea Binene.

Jake’s character as Ace was finally introduced and the scene when he met Alice (Bea Binene) for the first time is talk of the town.

“It’s so surreal. I’m very thankful na nafeature ako sa Esquire Magazine sa Mexico. The concept was one of my dream shoots and now it’s out pa sa ibang bansa. I’m really happy.”

They write to DJ Jasmin, talk to DJ Chacha, or go on a dating game through DJ Charlie.

“Usapang Tambayan,” hosted by DJ Charlie everday from 1 pm to 3pm, has paved the way for many listeners to find possible life partners. In fact, the daily dating game has touched the lives of its listeners and even produced two couples who have been blessed with children.

“I was even invited to their weddings,” the bubbly DJ shared. “And mind you, I was actually a ninong.”

In his program, DJ Charlie features a “hotseater” who shares with the public the kind of person he or she wants to meet. Four callers get to chat with the “hotseater” for five minutes on air. At the end of the program, the hotseater makes a decision and they are supposed to have an “eyeball” or meet in person.

DJ Charlie says his program doesn’t discriminate hotseaters. Anyone can join his show and he always does his best to make sure that both the “hotseater” and the callers are comfortable. “There are some who are shy at first, but I help them open up. That way, they can find the person who will really click with their personalities,” he said.

If DJ Charlie is Tambayan’s matchmaker, then DJ Jasmin is Tambayan’s love counsellor. Her program ““Dear Jasmin,” which was recently adjudged the Most Development Oriented Program at the 2012 Gandingan Awards, features letter from listeners, whose stories are turned into radio dramas. It is the only radio drama which airs on the FM band.

DJ Jasmin is very much hands-on when it comes to her show. She not only narrates the letter, prepares the dramas, and plays the songs, but she also gives advice, which isn’t always easy.

“There are days when giving advice just comes out naturally, but there also times when I am also going through something myself,” the KBP Golden Dove awardee and Gandingan Awards’ Best DJ for 2012 laughed. “Heartaches actually enable me to become a better advisor!”
Her skills were put to the test when she encountered a case of a love triangle in the program. A balikbayan named Ben wrote to share how he went to the Philippines to confront his best friend, Morris, who impregnated his girlfriend.

Incidentally, Morris was actually tuned in to Tambayan 101.9 on the day that Jasmin read his letter. A month later, he also wrote to ““Dear Jasmin”” because he thought the program could be a way for him to explain his side to Ben and DJ Jasmin could be a way for him to reach out to his friend.

“Sadly, the issue hasn’t been resolved yet. But I’m still in touch with both Ben and Morris and I’m hoping the time will come when they’ll both be ready to talk to each other,” DJ Jasmin said.

As for DJ Chacha, whose program “Ano’ng Meron” airs from 9 pm to 12 midnight, it’s all about being someone whom listeners can call to talk about their love life, including issues that cater to a more mature audience.

One time, a male called tried to turn the tables. He noticed how DJ Chacha was always the one giving advice and thought she might want to open up also since she might also have her own problems too. She found it cute and was touched by the caller’s effort.

Other callers though have different agenda like asking her out on a date.

“All I can offer is a dose of ‘mwahmwah-tsuptsup’ for now,” DJ Chacha laughed.

But who is Al Galang?

His full name is Aljarreu Galang, 28 years old, stands at 6’1″, owner and director of Sundar Bikram Yoga in Greenhills. He took up Political Science and Art History at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), and later committed two years to the headquarters of Bikram Yoga College of India, culminating in his certification as a Bikram Yoga teacher.

From San Diego, California in the US, Al settled back here in Manila in 2006 to become a Bikram Yoga instructor and eventually establish his Bikram Yoga studio. He later joined Mossimo Bikini Summit in 2008 where he placed 2nd runner up. He is presently the spokesperson and ambassador of yoga for Adidas Philippines.

Before getting linked with Dra. Vicki Belo, Al was rumored to be the boyfriend of ETC host Sam Oh.

Her StarStruck stint became a way for the 24-year-old model/actress to bag minor roles in various TV programs of the Kapuso Network like “Majika,” “Princess Charming,” “Kaputol ng Isang Awit,” “Ako si Kim Samsoon,” and “All My Life.”

In 2010, Jade continued her career on TV5 bagging minor roles in such programs like “Midnight DJ” and “Untold Stories Mula sa Face to Face.”

Since her StarStruck days in 2003, Jade’s career did not really take off compared to her batchmate, Cristine Reyes, who already had her own teleseryes and starred in various movies.

In an interview by Yahoo Philippines, Jade reiterated that she’s not envious of Cristine.

“Naiinggit? Hindi! Kasi may kanya-kanya tayong time. Kung para sa iyo, para sa iyo. Kung hindi, hindi. Pero I’m not a quitter. Hindi ako madaling sumuko and I’m here again. I’m willing to take the risk and I’m hoping for the best talaga,” she said.

Jade is taking another bid at stardom as she dissed her sweet image and posed sexy on the cover of FHM Philippines.

She’s also being managed now by Viva Entertainment with high hopes of taking the showbiz splash this time around.

The Catholic tradition was based from the canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, where Jesus spent 40 days fasting in the desert before the beginning of his public ministry, during which he endured temptation by Satan. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of this 40-day liturgical period of prayer and fasting.

Today, February 22, Catholics are being called to repent for the sins that they have committed and promise they would become better Christians in observance of Ash Wednesday.

As a symbolic gesture, ashes in cross signs are placed on the foreheads of the devout Catholic as a sign of mourning and repentance to God. The ashes used are typically gathered after the palms from the previous year’s Palm Sunday are burned.
