Dennis Ritchie Dead at 70
Dennis Ritchie, the unsung hero in computer programming, has died at age 70, according to his longtime employer.

Dennis Ritchie is known to be the creator of the very important C programming language and helped create the UNIX operating software–—the operating system that is the foundation of newer OSes like Apple’s Mac OS X, iOS and the Microsoft Windows.
Ritchie died a month after his birthday, as reported by the Associated Press. Although his company confirmed his demise, they would not disclose the cause and time of his death. The New York Times, however, reported Ritchie died October 12 after a prolonged illness.
Jeong Kim, president of Bell Labs, wrote in a blog post Thursday that Ritchie was “truly an inspiration to all of us, not just for his many accomplishments, but because of who he was as a friend, an inventor, and a humble and gracious man.”
Shalani Soledad and Roman Romulo to Tie the Knot on January 22, 2012
Shalani Soledad and Roman Romulo are set to tie the knot on January 22, 2012, earlier than their preferred date in February.
This is because the couple was advised by a Feng Shui expert who recommended that they hold their wedding earlier than the month of February 2012 as it will bring good luck.
Showbiz columnist Ricky Lo confirmed this news via his Funfare column on Philippine Star:
“Instead of February 2012 as reported in a scoop in the Life section of (The Philippine Star), the wedding of Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad and Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo has been reset to January 22, 2012 upon the advice of a feng shui expert.”
Although Shalani Soledad and Roman Romulo already set the date for their wedding, the couple haven’t decided yet if it will going to be a traditional church wedding, a garden wedding or beach wedding.
