UP and Ateneo Make it in World’s Best Universities 2011 List
The University of the Philippines made it to the Top 400 of the World’s Best Universities list for 2011.

U.S. News & World Report has released the new ranking of the Top 400 best colleges in the world based on Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Faculty-Student Ratio, International Faculty, International Students, and Citations per Faculty.
Two Philippine schools made it to the Top 400.
With a score of 34.4, the University of the Philippines ranks 332nd in the world and 62nd in Asia.
The second of only two Philippine schools in the list is Ateneo de Manila University which ranks 360th in the world and 65th in Asia. Ateneo received a total score of 32.
The highest ranking Asian school is Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) which garnered a perfect score of 100.
The world’s no.1 university, on the other hand, is University of Cambridge of the United Kingdom. The British school bested USA’s Harvard University which settled for no. 2.

University of the Philippines Ranks 34th in Best English-Teaching Schools in the World

The University of the Philippines ranked 34th in the Top 50 Best English-teaching schools in the world according to the latest list released by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
A Planet is Named After Fil-Am Harvard Student Martin Ayalde Camacho
A minor planet numbered 26740 has been named after Filipino-American student Martin Ayalde Camacho of Central High School, St. Paul, Minnesota, USA after winning the top prize in the 2010 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF).
Camacho is now a freshman at Harvard College on a US presidential scholarship as one of the 141 outstanding high school seniors who composed the US Presidential Scholars Class of 2010.
He was given the recognition due to his achievements as the first place award winner in the Intel ISEF, a high school science competition of the Society for Science and the Public and Intel Foundation.
The planet was discovered by the LINEAR Program of Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory.
