The $1 million coin by Perth Mint in Australia is the biggest, heaviest and most valuable in the world.
The $1 million coin is said to be inspired by the popular Australian kangaroo gold coin series and it was made from 99.99% pure gold.
Also the world’s largest gold bullion coin, the $1 million coin weighs 1,012 kilograms and measures 80 centimetres wide, 12 centimetres deep, took 18 months to create and features a bounding red kangaroo on one side and the Queen’s motif on the other. It also symbolizes one of the Mint’s most extraordinary accomplishments in its 112 year history.
Perth’s $1 million coin has an estimated net worth of $53 million making it the world’s most valuable gold bullion coin.
“It’s 10 times bigger than the next biggest gold coin, which was produced by the Royal Canadian Mint,” Ron Currie, Perth Mint Marketing Director said.
Currie added that the coin was not for sale but that the mint would produce a replica if the price was right.
