$1 million coin, the biggest and heaviest and most valuable in the world has been revealed by Perth Mint in Australia.
The $1 million coin weighs 1012 kilograms and was made of 99.99 percent pure gold worth more than $53.5 million.
The giant coin measures 80 centimetres wide, 12 centimetres deep, took 18 months to create and features a bounding red kangaroo on one side and the Queen’s motif on the other.
“It’s 10 times bigger than the next biggest gold coin, which was produced by the Royal Canadian Mint,” Ron Currie, Perth Mint Marketing Director said.
Currie added that the coin was not for sale but that the mint would produce a replica if the price was right.
