Fil-Brit Charlie Green Frontrunner on Britain’s Got Talent

After Madonna Decena, another frontrunner wowed the televiewers in England on the second episode of the reality talent competition “Britain’s Got More Talent” and he’s a Filipino-British lad by the name of Charlie Green.
Green’s father, Roger, said that his wife, Cecilia Surmargo, hails from the Philippines’ queen city – Cebu. That makes Charlie half-Filipino because Cecilia originated from Dumanjug is a Cebuana.
The 10-year-old boy from Droitwich, Worcestershire will advance to the semi-finals after receiving three “yeses” from the judges Simon Cowell, actress Amanda Holden and journalist Piers Morgan during the live audition at Manchester Theatre.
Charlie, born February 16, 1997, performed Frank Sinatra’s “Summer Wind” and got a standing ovation from the audience and was praised by the show’s judges.
Piers Morgan said, “You’re not just a brilliant singer, you’re also dancing… you got it all Charlie!” Amanda Holden said, “I predict you can win this show.” Simon Cowell said, “Charlie you are fantastic. Charlie, I think you are a little star, I really, really like you.”

Over 3,600 McDonalds employees from 53 countries participated in the 2008 Voice of McDonalds Global Singing Competition. The 3,600 entries were trimmed down to 35 semi-finalists and five of them are Filipinos! The 35 semi-finalists were being voted upon on the internet and the Top 14 who received the most number of votes advanced to the finals. 3 Filipinos made it to the Top 14.
